Who Would Live With Jesus? Poem by Chuy Amante

Who Would Live With Jesus?

Rating: 5.0

who would live with Jesus?
I asked my wife
and she tipped her head

are you alright? and
are you going to bed?

no really, I said
let's look at this.
What was that guy like?
could he have had a Miss?

a counter-culture revolutionary
with a pack of questionable friends
always followed by the lawmen
having food with seedy friends

sitting on the beach
or chilling in the hills
they'd eat bread and fish
all with joyous thrills

always on the road,
givin' his shit away
probably didn't shave
and was born in a cave

A man most women
would not take home to Pa
rough by appearance
but still a son of god

not fit for many women
he just wasn't normal
he gave the love of god to all
and he was never formal

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I love the style of the renegade rabbi rebel

I don't think my wife would let me bring him home
