Who You Are Poem by Monica Money

Who You Are

I see darkness

But I dream of lightness

What am I supposed to do?

It's right in front of me,

The door I see.

Should I stay or should I go?

But if I turn around

My past will jump right at me.

Hated, tortured, bullied, and crying.

It was hell.

The darkness consumes me again,

But yet I still dream of lightness.

'Seeing is deceiving; dreaming is believing'

Is that what I am supposed to do?

Believe.

How do you believe?

Dark road ahead of me.

There is still lightness I see.

Believing is what I did,

But I still lost a piece of me.

That is: who I am...

Now I am here to say,

Don't lose yourself in the process of receiving something great.

It may be hard,

But it is worth the try.

Now I opened the door.

Light consumes me this time.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Being in a bad place can inspire to write something like this. Just know that whatever you are going through there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Be who you are and say what you feel. Don't keep it in. You do matter.

Thank You for your comment. It's true of what they say. If you keep things in it explodes into a massacre. Just believe everything will be okay. It will get better.
