Why did it have to be you?
Why did you have to be the one?
The one I fell for, and then cried for,
The one who loved me, and then left me.

You were the one to say forever,
The one to say you were different.
But what happened to our love?
Did you just decide to say goodbye?

I would have given you my all,
My life was yours for the taking.
But why, o why, didn’t I see?
Why didn’t I see the smirk behind the smile?
