Why Couldn'T We Just Stay Like This Forever? Poem by James Barrs

Why Couldn'T We Just Stay Like This Forever?

she said; couldn't we just stay like this forever.
but the like this, was me alone and her with others.
Couldn't we just stay like this forever.
where I don't love you
where you wait, inevitably for me to come around.
where you grow old alone and tormented,
and I move on. a train with no hope of derailment.
