Wife Poem by Randy McClave

Wife

Why do I need a wife
Why do I need that strife,
Do I need that worry or stress
From the person wearing a skirt or a dress.
Of course I don't know how to buy clothes
Or what colored shirt with my shoes goes,
But, I know how to use a washer and a dryer
And I know how to use an air fryer.
I know how to pay my bills
And not to waste my money or worthless thrills,
And I can go to bed anytime that want day or night
Never not worrying about a fight.
I can leave my house a complete disaster
Because in my house I am the only master,
I never hear screams to pick up this or to pick up that
And never do I need to hunt down a bug or a gnat.
I watch what I wanna watch on tv
I don't have to worry about making someone else happy,
And another happy thought for my soul
I have a fully charged remote control.
I don't need a woman to talk to
And I don't need a woman unto who I would say I do,
The only baggage that I worry about is my own
I'm happy and at peace living alone.
I don't need someone to tell me what to do or say
Or me to ask them continuously are they okay,
I have been hurt and cut deeper by rife
That was wielded by woman to whom I once called wife.
