Wild Imaginations (Some Funny Rhymes) Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

Wild Imaginations (Some Funny Rhymes)

I let my imagination go on a ride
It mounted a horse and sat astride
Then all of a sudden it galloped wild
To catch the roaring waves and the rising tide.
Soon it entered into a conversation with the breeze
Who was plucking away old ripened leaves, (i.e. from trees)
It then chattered with some honking geese
Who said they were very hungry and were off to buy some cheese.
Soon night set in and it was pitch dark
I could hear the owls hoot and dogs bay and bark
My imagination then saw a ghost in the park
Wrestling with his shadow, just for a lark.
My imagination then befriended a loitering star
Sitting with a glowing face all alone at the bar
He said he has come from the skies, from a distance very far
On the wings of light for he could not afford a car!
Soon it was time for the day break
But the snoring sun said that he was not yet ready to wake
I tempted him out of the bed with the promise of a cake
Soon he was shining cheerfully above the far away lake.
I then thought enough is enough; I better put my imagination a rein
So I went to the market to buy a strong chain
I met a shop keeper and struck with him a good bargain
Tied up my imagination, who rebuked me as insane!
