Windbags Like Dostoevsky...

...protracting his serial
to pay for excess.

With distaste but curiosity
for long stories
I thank those
who translate, synopsize,
and reveal samples of excellent prose.

Thank you, Leo. Tancock.
You did all three.
You shortened Zola's 'L'Assommoir'
by translating it
(except for the title; I suggest 'The Zombies') ,

and by, in twelve pages,
providing a synopsis
and excellent samples,
like Chapter 3, the wedding,
which saved me ages.
