Wine Poem by Douglas Scotney

A house wine,
a good one,
might be a vin maison
or a vin chez;
a bad one,
a vin bouge, vin taudis
or vin baraque.

But a table wine is an ordinaire;
so a house wine
might be a sous,
or a chez, a maison,
a bouge, a taudis or a baraque;
ou un bas quartier.

Then there's the special -
le cas d'espèce, l'ami intime;
l'extra, le particulier;
or, to give a variety of ‘mansion' a go-
palais,
l'éveché,
château.
