Winter Trees Poem by Dr. Insha Iftikhar

Winter Trees

In the shade of the fall
A walk through the
Deserted lanes.
With a heavy heart,
A noisy mind
I stamp the crispy leaves
Under my feet.

Will these trees
Take me a friend?

Will they Teach me
With the silent words,
The art of surviving
The changing moods
Of nature?

The winter trees shall teach me
The ways to shed
My worries,
All the complaints
All this heaviness,
As quietly, as calmly
As they shed
The dead leaves.

I wish to learn
From the winter trees,
To stand erect
Despite the Nakedness,
Face the stormy blows
Of icy winter,
In the hope of
Sweet spring.
The nurturing
Mood of nature!
