Wish You Were Here Poem by Apurva Banthia

Wish You Were Here

The night feels cold,
As the wind blows through.
A friend walks on,
As he misses you.
The echoes of laughter
Ring in his ear,
All he wants to say is
WISH YOU WERE HERE!

Scorching sun and hot tarmac,
A crazy lady and a mad fellow,
On the run, under the blaze
Passing by field of grass turned yellow.
He misses you in the run to shade
And the warm hand of someone dear
All that spills out is
WISH YOU WERE HERE!

He also misses a lot
Those days of rain;
He’d run along all drenched to you,
And all his sorrows would drain.
Dark clouds gather once more,
Raining memories and a lot of cheer.
All that slips past him is -
WISH YOU WERE HERE!

And now its time
For new leaves to open.
Springing with freshness,
And feeling love stricken.
Amidst the mild chill and poetry,
Your absence brings an unknown fear.
And in fear he stutters
WISH YOU WERE HERE!

Seasons passed up,
Days went by,
I let myself loose,
And flew sky high.
In every emotion,
I kept saying all long year,
As I say it once more,
WISH YOU WERE HERE!
