Words Poem by Leslie Alexis

Words

I think that I write freely
But these words are not me.
I sit, and I am taken into a trance
Then, all of a sudden words dance
All over my page, they sing sweetly
With rhythms, words make symphony
Sung gloriously, even majestically, that awe
Even me. A thought is made into a scheme, and
A scheme is shaped into a plot, all the while I am looking
At the words coming forth, dancing, out of my heart. Dancing
Prowling, prancing, page to page. They run, as if fearing some great
Evil. Yet none they leave behind, even as they sing the warrior’s song
“One for all and all for one”… “together we’re mighty, together we’re strong”
… “ And yesterday we were mortal, tomorrow we shall be eternal.” they sing
Even as they run away from me.
