Words Can Kill

Rating: 5.0

“You can’t do that and come in here
You must do this instead
You can’t drink wine or even beer
But heed to all that’s said”

Our words can raise, or bring to fall
It’s best we take more care
To help a child to stand up tall
Not tell them what to wear

A hat; upon a woman’s head
This dress, that suit and tie
Is really this what Jesus said?
As guide to you and I?

More vital; is the truth He died!
Our faith He rose again
That we by grace as Jesus’ bride
One day with Christ can reign

Important, is the life we give
How now we treat God’s law
Through hope and faith in Christ we live
Or if we fail once more

Not if we smoke and serve the Lord
Nor if we drink today
For in God’s time He’ll take the sword
To prune such things away

One yoke alone, God gives to us
The yoke of Christ, His seed
So why must man make all this fuss?
When really there’s no need

Nothing of God will wear us down
Our load He’ll swore to share
So let no other steal life’s crown
Through foreign weights to bear

This is so true, Michael! Very well put. It is so important what we say to a child. It can change who he is inside. Your poem deserves a '10! ' Best Wishes, Marilyn
