Yesterday Once More Poem by Marc Jude Fernandes

Yesterday Once More

When I look in the eye of the past,
And dream of how things were in days of yore.
I yearn for mankind's story to be recast.
And a prayer escapes my lips: yesterday once more.

Ah! What days were those indeed.
My soul cries out in nostalgic pain,
To reload the past, my heart does plead,
I must relive those days again.

Oh! What fear has got us paralysed,
What panic! What terror! has set in,
How did we allow ourselves to be so mesmerized,
All rationality has been thrown in the dustbin.

When will we be true to our nature,
Us to our purer selves, God please restore,
Also, it's time for us to be mature
So, I need no longer cry- yesterday once more!
