Yet To Be Tested Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Yet To Be Tested

With strategic plans in hand.
And a blueprint understood to comprehend.
There should be no one selected,
To have been determined qualified.
And with expertise.
To be heard asking questions about concrete.
Or the amount of cement needed.
To pour for a basement floor.
Of a foundation.
And...
Whether or not it would be more effective.
If a decor chosen to pick first.
With desks where would be leaders sit.
Should have cement poured before or after,
Speeches heard with them to give.
And parades to block streets.
As floats adorned with gloating dignitaries.
Jump off to glad hand with voters.
To then begin to exclaim the strength,
And greatness of a monument built to pride.
That has yet been tested for its longevity.
As people excited by an event to welcome it.
That they ignore to prevent contractors hired.
Complete access to a gaping hole.
To go unnoticed.
But kept is the anticipation.
And a greatness to know,
From the selling of it sold.

'What do we want? '
Greatness!
'And when do we want it? '
NOW!
