You Poem by Dallas Carter

You

I had you
Then I lost you
I love you
Then I lose you
I would die for you
But I was dead before you

I want you
But I cannot have you
I need you
But I cannot keep you
I'd give it all for you
But I have nothing to give you

If I had you
Would I burn you?
If I held you
Would I hurt you?
If I gave my life to give you life
Would it heal you?

An angel touched by God
A soul burnt in Hell
A heart carved of gold
A head built in brick
Someone worth loving
And yet you refuse to believe it
