You Poem by Kaitlin Van Zile

You

you.
were always good at zippers
at buttons
at pulling apart my chapped lips
and forcing them into a smile that pleased you
my teeth perched
somewhere between a half scabbed over wound
and a sarcastic smirk.
sincerity didn’t matter to you, anyway
