You Are A Good Christian Poem by Francis Duggan

You Are A Good Christian

You are a good Christian your religious mates of you say
And you worship your God in your church on Sunday
But you are down on poor people who live on welfare
Your thinking does seem strange for a man of prayer.

By some of the things that we do and some of the things that we say
Perhaps we all can be hypocritical in our own way
And 'twould seem to me your bible you've not read
Since the God that you worship only judges the dead.

You are a good Christian or so it does seem
And your religion a boost to your self esteem
You may tell the World that your God is great
But against the poor have nots you discriminate.

You say you are a good christian but 'twould seem to me
That many with what you say would not agree
A good Christian unlike you in ways not so small
Is one who believes in what's known as a 'fair go for all'.
