You Fade Out Yourself Poem by Joshua Bantum

You Fade Out Yourself

Like seeing through a cloudy sky,
I stare beyond the obvious beauty into the sun burning eternally inside you,
every beat pulsates unique radiance
around me,
and I….

shove this napkin into my pocket because you’ve just walked back into the bar.

10mins later, next smoke Break:

Surrounded by a bar table nursing
empty chairs,
not one holding you….

I think to myself,

Didn’t you quit smoking?
