You Know What's Funny? Poem by Hunter Evett

You Know What's Funny?

Rating: 5.0

You know what’s funny?

You know what’s funny?
Every time I wake up,
I do the same damn thing.
I go straight to doing nothing,
That seems to better me.

Even more funny?
I try to do better,
But I fail in the end.
It’s like a non-stop charade,
Here in this useless character that is me.

What you want more?
O.K. here it goes,
I love no one.
I have never found that someone,
That will make me feel righteous.

What not enough?
Well how about this,
I never leave the house,
I never own up to circumstances,
I never live for the day.

Are you not done yet?
Because I am.
I would love to do those things,
But my conscience stops me.

Why don’t you understand?
Is it because I never did.
What you want me to?
Is it for naught and I’m doomed,
To be what has been laid out for me?

I mean why shouldn’t it be,
I lived this life full of regret,
With the most remorse.

But who cares anymore?
Why should this reader believe me?
Why don’t you look,
In the mirror right in front of you?

If you read this you know,
Life never ends up,
How you desired it to be.
Drunk or not I can tell you,
That this is not the way you wanted to be.
