You leave so quickly
into the night
followed by my thoughts,
footsteps that pace in your mind

You leave so quickly
my love can only follow
and I think you will smell me,
in your car, on your shoulder
where I wept, my perfume
fading, fading

You leave so quickly
my lips still feel the press
of your lips and I want to
touch where you were,
where you left sand and
ocean and sky

the depths cannot be found
because you have left so quickly,
the night has swallowed you like
the surf of the ocean
