scarlette Phoenix

(1987 March 25 / Cape Town)

You make me want to bear you a gift

Ups and downs
laughter and tears
you ease my heart
and settle my fears

rain and sunshine
good times and bad
with love in my heart
i found happiness in the sad

still by my side
holding me close
filled with peace
gone are my woes

deeper and deeper
in love i fall
over and over
you become my all

to shower you
with gifts and treasures
fills me with joy
and brings me pleasure

there's just one gift
i long to share
part of my being
from my soul to bear

just a wish
this is for now
a thought in my heart
not yet a vow

poet George Gordon Byron

I speak not, I trace not, I breathe not thy name;
There is grief in the sound, there is guilt in the fame;
But the tear that now burns on my cheek may impart
