You Said You'D Come Back Poem by Courtney Casebolt

You Said You'D Come Back

It’s been a while
Do you remember?
I was the one who made you smile
You’ve probably forgotten
With no time to yourself
Because now you belong to the world
And not just to this lonely girl
Chorus
You said you would come back for me
But ever since the fame
You’ve been used up and you’re no longer the same
I’m only one in a million that calls out your name
But you don’t hear me
You’re thoughts are not your own
You take the microphone
And the stage becomes your home
All the love we shared
And how much we cared
Have been carried away like the leaves in the fall
But you said you’d come back
Oh you said you’d come back
But that was all
**
I can see your despair
It’s written all over your face
Now you need someone
And it just ain’t fair
To feel so alone
Cause I ain’t there
Repeat Chorus
Have you forgotten?
Or do you remember?
That with me you never had to hide
Because I would’ve shared your pride
