You Should Not Even Bother Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

You Should Not Even Bother

Don't play that game with me
You should just be honest about it
But you'd rather talk around it
and sometimes not at all
how can you expect there to be trust
when you have feelings
you aren't open to discuss

I tried to talk to you, some time ago
and you would tell me
something so vague as if I'd understand
Why not just come clean?
I ain't no mind reader
don't expect me to be

How can you want me all to yourself?
you know you belong to somebody else
I'll give you time until you decide
Who you desire to be with the most
If I shall ever vanish like a ghost
then I have decided for us both

Hear me when I say
I won't be the fool
You should see I know the rules
and you'll call me crazy
because I didn't return
your unendearing affection

You can try and convince me
the feelings are genuine
I'll be much too convinced
What I know to be true in my mind
Love isn't an if
what doesn't exist
will not manifest itself in the heart
There's no need to bother,
i've denied your wish

I ain't sorry i've put myself first
or that I have always knew my worth
it's something you wouldn't understand
You could never love me like I can
love isn't an if and what doesn't exist
won't manifest in the heart
I've denied your wish

I especially enjoyed these lines: " If I shall ever vanish like a ghost then I have decided for us both" " and you'll call me crazy because I didn't return your unendearing affection" last stanza: " known" , not " knew" (" my worth" ;) :) [ or delete " have" ] to MyPoetList bri :)
