You Told Me Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

You Told Me

You are not innocent
When i know that you are guilty of similar crimes
Thinking you're speeding past the point, that's a fine
Were you blinded by ambition, ain't seen the signs?
You drove this route before one too many times
It shouldn't be difficult reading between the lines.
Still it's thin enough, unweaving the fabric of it's design.
Got you igniting a flame which hasn't burned out
Probably know it a little better with eyes so fine.
Ain't even had a drink, it's like I've tasted wine.
I know that you don't know, you cross my mind
I'll be revisiting the script at another time.

You told me and you've explained
The road that lead to change
Kisses don't feel the same
I love you is what is claimed
You're thinking, why am i feeling pain?
Felt lately that you are all alone
Just wondering, why do your baby roam
A lie was sold to you
That's not what you're use to

You said you really are in love
You know it's not what someone does
But when the streets come calling,
Their already gone
And when your world starts falling,
They have moved on
His spark could be seen within your eyes.
Lured you into his trap and you'd take the bait.
But nothing starts to make sense
All the things that's been said has been a blur
Providing distractions for what is to occur
Leaving you with questions when you do not feel sure.
