So much has happened
Time has gone by
I needed to be mended
And here's the reason why.

Life does not fight fair.
We're not give equal weapons
And no amount of prayer
Can make a still heart beat just once.

I was made to grow up fast
To bow down and take it all.
It was too much, I was too small.
I wouldn't give up, but I knew I could not last.

You pushed me, shoved me, kicked me back to life.

It's in the tiny things you do
Your smile so genuine and true
Your soft whisper in my ear
The pat on my back to let me know you're near.

It took some time for me to see
That there is nothing I cannot do
And not a thing I cannot be.
I know now that I am stronger because of you.

You showed me how to fight
And you taught me to always stand upright.
When others noticed me just barely
You're the one who truly saw me.

I slowly have become aware
That you, you were always there.

So know, my friend, in times of need,
Whether it be cold, hot, day or night,
I'll always be right by your side.
