Young Woman Poem by Stan Rodriguez

Young Woman

Rating: 5.0

Barbie dolls and fluted skirts
where back then—thought, so pretty
and Santa Clause was very nice
he made all Christmas merry.

The time is now—my dear to think
of other precious things…
not ceiling wax or goldilocks
or puppets on a string

But heart strings of brightened gold
that makes all glory sing
and set you on a path to love
outdoing all your dreams.

If you have time and care for me
I'll show you heaven's door
where wonders always seem to come
and will let you view and explore.

Let me take your hands to start
and hold them tenderly
and kiss them more than once
exchanging-giving all my energy.

From there to the lips I crave—embraces tight and brave
letting whatever sweat may come
lubricate the way of thrills yet to be experienced
in the loving of our ways.

Let all these thrills awaken you
to the young woman you've become
and in that glory be set free
to love whoever, you may love.
