Your Departure Taught Me That Poem by Meraj Ahmed

Your Departure Taught Me That

So am I broken?
Have you left my heart broken, my soul shattered?
Do I cry, am I hurt?
Yes, I am, for I still miss you.
I miss hanging out with you.
I miss dancing with you,
I miss writing "princess, you are beautiful" on your palms.
I miss kissing on your forehead.
I miss all your stories you used to tell over those phone calls.
I miss all those moments when you would hold my hand and sleep over my chest during those romantic scenes in the movies.
I miss every single moment I spent with you.
For I still love you,
For you still are my princess.

But do I regret your leaving,
Do I regret our breakup.?
No, I don't,
Because your departure taught me more
Than your stay could have ever.
It hurts, it kills me, it breaks my heart into pieces
But I don't regret it,
Because sometimes what breaks our heart,
Is needed to stitch our soul.

Your stay taught me how it feels to love someone,
And how love fills your life with beautiful colors.
Your departure taught me how it feels to lose someone you love,
And that loss doesn't leave your life colorless.
Your stay taught me that love is not a magic wand that will solve all your problems
Your departure taught me that breakups are not really a curse that will wash away all your blessings.

Your stay taught me that a hug can be a medicine
Your departure taught me that you can hug yourself also.
Your stay taught me that you can smile for someone else's happiness.
Your departure taught me that not everyone weeps when you weep.

Your stay taught me that someone else may bring a smile to your face.
Your departure taught me that no one else is needed for you to smile.

Your stay made me feel that love is eternal.
Your departure confirmed that love is eternal.
