Your Good-Byes Poem by Kerri White

Your Good-Byes

I desire long good-byes
with a passionate escape from the night spent beside you.

For if I have to live with you
once again
I'd rather remember how relentless you were
when you forced yourself away from me.
Though you knew we'd see each other again so soon,
you realized time away would cause such a wanting and a grief.

So when you depart from me,
either for a night's sleep or an eternity,
amazingly escape from me,
and leave me smiling.

Knowing how wonderful you are
is within that good-bye.
Speak as though you mean your words,
and I'll treasure your following 'Hello' that much more.
