Struggle for existance had taken a toll
Of adolescence and youth I recall.
Without notice they came and gone
Before ushering in life they were bygone.
The dreamy span of adolescence
Made exit nurturing my innocence
And of the youth waiting at threshold
Which too then to it followed.
Too late it was when it dwaned
That I dwelt in only a tiny pond.
Rejecting the omnipotence of youth,
In my meager knowhow the truth.
Better late than never, I assumed
A youth at sixty in me I have found.

To arrive late, is not too early, If there's still a spring in the step. Many thanks for your comments.
I can relate so much to this poem, I have found the girl I should have been now it is a glorious feeling of happiness and to be able to come to terms with the complexities of the past. Superb write!
A youth at sixty in me i have found. Great work! Thanks for sharing.
You are right. Indeed, writing poetry when one is already not a young man is the search of the lost time. When we return to trust and believe in our interior life, we get back to youth. The muses are always young girls. That you very much for you comment and your knowledge of the experience poetic. Attentive greetings
Childhood and adolescence dawned and disappeared fast! Though youth came eventually, couldn't plunder the wealth of youth! But be assured...... nothing is lost, if one can find youth in his sixty! Better late than never! A very admirable philosophy of life! Enjoyed the poem!
