Yuletide Serenades Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Yuletide Serenades

Today's shopping spree
lost its bright glow
down through the town
in the cold cold snow...
people were pushing;
where was the loving
as in the days long ago?
Cash tills were ringing
with loud ding-a-linging;
not one little ounce of delay.
Customers buying whilst
babies were crying.
All for the glory of
'Christmas Day'... And
oh, the hustle and bustle
down in the penny arcade,
queues at the entrance,
police in attendance,
tempers anxiously frayed.
But soon we'll be singing
Yuletide serenades
once again.
