A man named Zaccheaus
Known collector of taxes,
Short and agile he was,
A thirsting soul, lost
Searched for life-giving water:
Jesus, the Giver
Humble, child-like was he
Climbed a sycamore tree
For a heart-content view
Of Jesus with His chosen few
Passing by, a crowd following
Jesus, caught his wide-eyes staring
Saw his thirsting soul
Jesus, touched by compassion, told:
“Zaccheaus, come down,
(A warm, earnest command)
Hurry, for I must stay
With you today! ”
Complaint, bystanders did:
“Zaccheaus’ a sinner, ” they said.
Zaccheaus’ eyes, revealed repentant stand
Confessing, promising to amend.
Thence Jesus said:
“Today, salvation has come
To this house
Because this man too
Is a son of Abraham:
For the Son of Man has come
To seek out and save
What was lost.”
The biblical story of Zaccheaus is beautifully and poetically summarized..... Enjoyed reading! For the Son of Man has come To seek out and save What was lost.”.......................A realization so comforting!

Beautiful portrayal of the essence of the encounter between Zaccheaus and Jesus, elegantly penned with spiritual insight. Thanks for sharing Paul. Please read my poem COLOSSAL MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE (the execution of Jesus) .
