If you could read my mind
What stories would you see?
All the daydreams and the fantasies,
The poet and the lunatic,
The dreams of you and me.

If you could read my mind
Would it seem like a bad novel?
Where the hero gets the girl?
You would not read that book,
Because the ending would not be true.

If you could read my mind
You would see the words
I think about you,
All the adjectives I have used
To describe and define you.

If you could read my mind
You would see I do not want things to be this way,
And these feeling that I have...
You would see the things I cannot say,
That I have not the confidence to say them.
