Name Poem by Victor Osorio

You always pause
Before talking begins
Even on the phone
An unknown name makes it ring
Did you forget my name?
It's the conversation of old
First thing to be spoken
Hello-my name was told
Maybe you didn't hear
You didn't want this to take place
You still greet me
and recognize my face
Name-we know it well
Even in the saddest story
Names become and unfold
I'm not that important
Maybe I don't have a name
Only the cruel ones that describe me
Maybe no one has a name
Only call them like you see.
