Soulshine Poem by Luke Easter

Soulshine

Rating: 5.0

The Allman Brothers have a song called Soulshine,
And I don’t know if scripture ever came to mind,
But what I do know that it is an excellent find,
A harmonious combination of rhythm and rhyme.

The point it makes is made in bible scripture,
Don’t let yourself be fooled by the present picture,
You can’t guide your life by what you now see,
Only by the promise of what the future will be.

Satan uses the negative in an attempt to blind,
Don’t fear, we all will take this flight sometime,
Focus instead on letting whatever it is go,
Rely and trust in God, let Him be in control.

Have you ever tried to make it through on your own?
And the longer you struggled the more you felt alone?
To admit you’re in over your head is not a crime,
It’s the kind of situation where your soul needs to shine.

When prior warning of rain is given carry your umbrella,
If you find yourself without back-up simply sing acappella,
Do not allow the stars to fade and face another dawn,
Without believing God is interceding to right the wrong.

It is a fool, who lights a lamp only to hide it under a table,
Let your light so shine showing others they too are able,
Illumination glowing uncompromisingly bright to motivate,
Every word, sentence, paragraph used as we elaborate.

No matter what pain or how intense a storm of any kind,
Ephesians 6: 16, quench the fiery darts shot in your mind,
Putting on the armor of God, Ephesians 6: 11 & 13, we find,
You will only defeat the problem when letting your Soulshine.
