Twenty-One Poem by IFEOLUWA POPOOLA

Twenty-One

Rating: 1.0

Shaken to the roots,
As the only ray of sunshine diminished
Love came crashing
At Twenty - one

Dreams, ambitions, life, all blurred by tears
Promises, heart broken into tiny pieces
Like a twenty - one storey building
It collapsed, never to be amended
At Twenty - one

At Eighteen,
Once brought out of darkness by love
Sinking deep into the darkest darkness
At Twenty - one

Coiling and hiding into the deepest shell
Death presented itself as the only way
At Twenty - one

Until a hand full of compassion
Stretched forth
Pulled out of darkness into a glorious light
At Twenty - one

Once again, all seems beautiful
All at Twenty - one.
