Barry Jablonski Poems

A man in the mirror
Looks back every day
He looks for changes
Not found yesterday
...

We pay respect on Veteran's Day
To those who answered the call
They fought our country's wars
And watched their comrades fall
...

Alone again on a Christmas Day
A time to reflect, a time to pray
Beautiful gifts sit under my tree
That take delight in mocking me
...

All the men at the work site
Stop work when you walk by
Sometimes they like to whistle
Just to try and catch your eye
...

Have you ever been a sailin'
Across the deep blue sea
The greenhorn's they be ailin'
That went to sea with me
...

The palms are swaying in the breeze
And the ocean is lapping at my knees
Sun kissed bathers lying on the beach
Girls are tanning places hard to reach
...

Our grand holiday meal
Was devoured in a flash
Now off to the stores….
We'll make a mad dash
...

As I watched her walk away
I thought of witty things to say
She took from me, my heart & soul
While I stood spouting something droll
...

In my mind I'm only twenty-two
And my body is like brand new
But in your eyes, I'm old & grey
And may never see another day
...

I always thought I could be rich
But life can be an ornery bitch…
My get rich schemes often failed
And many times it got me jailed
...

I dreamed of you again last night
And was delighted to have you near
But a nightmare woke me with a fright
When your face began to disappear
...

Do you think about your life?
And all about your choices
Did you listen to yourself?
Or to your parents voices
...

Ghost lovers rummage in my brain
Searching memories rife with pain
Some left an imprint on my soul…
The others were just a tawdry goal
...

Our sons & daughters off to war
We sent them to a distant shore
Atrocities witnessed by the score
Live with memories they abhor
...

A shot of whiskey and a rebel yell
Another bar in a run-down hotel
The band is playin’ a Skynard song
My bartender is takin’ way too long
...

You took your love away from me
And stole the love I gave to thee
You will pretend to disagree….
I'm glad you finally set me free
...

Days filled with sunshine
And nights filled with pain
This never ending cycle
On which I must remain
...

Mother’s day comes but once a year
We celebrate moms that we hold dear
They taught us how to tie our shoes
And always listened to our big news
...

From this moment on
I will no longer live in fear
I’m ready to lay down my life
For those I hold so dear
...

Trust in yourself and do what’s right
Stand up for those unable to fight
Protect the weak, from the strong
And you’ll end up where you belong
...

The Best Poem Of Barry Jablonski

Man In The Mirror

A man in the mirror
Looks back every day
He looks for changes
Not found yesterday

He remembers a time
Youth was his gauge
His face held no lines
Not a sign of old age

But age has shown up
And mirrors don’t lie
Hair loss and wrinkles
Greet discerning eyes

He hates this old man
He now sees every day
He lives in the mirror
And he won’t go away…
