Oh her shoes are shiny and her hair is long
And she sings the mighty Sarah's Song
Oh Sarah's Song is a song of rage
With themes she learnt from an early stage

The homeless man under the bridge had eyes that bled
And woke each night from his humble bed
He had no poetry or rhyme,
No joy, no consequence or crime.

From his driving seat of "Knowledge" he drives down to Leicester Square
Taking rides from all and sundry, all the world has been his fare.
When life's path was dark and dreary, when the nights were cold and drab
He imparted to the masses "Knowledge", from his Hackney Cab.

Imams offer prayers to Allah
As Minarets chant high.
Rastafarians invoke Tafari
And chant down Babylon.

Walk into the light Jonah
Walk into the light
Angel hands will lead you
When you walk into the light.

Guns may crack, Bombs explode,
People fight on streets,
Back in "B" the Bourgeoisie
Are hiding in their sheets.

There was a woman who lived inside her head
She spoke daily to the people
Who lived inside her head.
Outside her head.....the world continued

The woman who cried.....
Read the newspaper
Did the Crossword
Changed the bed sheets

For almost 30 years you were Public Prisoner Number One
Your new home...far from home.....was now Victor Verster.... Robben Island,
Far from the World, yet teasingly you were so near
Yet you remained Undone, Unafraid, Strong, Silent, Loud, Defiant

Close to my hearing she shouted to her God
Tearful and Fearful for on Higher Ground she trod.
Psalms and Revelations plagued her all the while
Rage and Indignation brought sadness to her smile.

It's black and shiny and Ebony.
She stands so tall, so proud and free

I want to see you look alive
Modern times have hit us hard
But I'm sure we can survive.

There is a man
Who has my heart
There are no words
For this Poet

Cecelia..... In the ROOM.....After the wedding....After the party.
The silence resonates, as if by night the world stands still.
What revelations and visions will lull her to her waiting bed?
She sees the double bed, the shoes upon the floor,

The party was roaring and the music was loud
And Mamie and Elroy were lost in the crowd,
She wanted to chat about things yet unsaid
But Elroy was buzzing with tunes in his head.

But Kevin with his book in hand

Cecelia GrantPeters Biography

Cecelia Grant-Peters was born in her maternal grandmother’s house in Vermont, St Vincent & The Grenadines. She came to join her parents in Berkshire, United Kingdom as a baby, and was educated in Langley, Berkshire, at Marish Primary School and Holmewood County Secondary School. After graduating from the Langley College of Further Education with a degree in Business Studies. She went on to study for a Postgraduate Degree in Criminal Justice at Essex University. She wrote her first rhyme during a school project at the age of about 7, and never stopped writing. Her father encouraged her to keep everything she writes and to date them, and she did. All her works going back to childhood are dated and stored in a treasured memory box at her home. Since the age of 12 she has regularly contributed to magazines and journals and has had numerous publications on radio and local press. She joined the Slough Writers Group in her early teens, contributing to teen magazines until she was old enough to become a fully pledged member at the age of 17. Cecelia ¬married and has divorced, and raised two sons. She worked for many years as a Paralegal, dealing with Matrimonial, Family, Child Protection and Criminal law and confesses to being 'shockproof' after her years of Court room attendances and preparing legal papers and Briefs to Counsel. In 2011 Cecelia became a volunteer for London based charity Kids Company, and started poetry workshops in many schools and worked voluntarily over the whole summer, launching her self-styled and much publicised ‘Summer of Love’ raising awareness of children’s suffrage. She now runs her own business, Bardess of Langley, from her home in Langley, Berkshire doing Poetry Workshops and Readings for schools, colleges, universities and other organisations. Although she was a Paralegal for many years the writing has been a constant fixture. A review of her current book, The Rage In Albion (after the poem of the same title) has been published in the Criterion Literary Journal and Rock Pebbles of India. She is a regular contributor to Glow Magazine and was the author whose poem became the launch poem for the 2011 Royal Berkshire Poetry Competition, where she was asked to be a Judge, after her poem ‘The Rage In Albion’ was published in Beat Magazine. Cecelia is now working on her fourth book of poetry, as yet untitled.)

Poet You'Re Suffering From 'Metaphor'

The Doctor checked my vitals and the Neurosurgeon too
The Nurses checked my blood pressure until my arm went blue
Then the Doctor told me something I had never heard before
She said; "Poet, you're suffering from Metaphor,
I don't think that I have ever seen such a serious case before.
Words are clogging up your arteries and they ooze from every pore
It's a case unlike any I have ever seen before,
You have WORDS inside your bones
In your teeth and in your jaw,
Words that rhyme and words that won't
Words do that do and words that don't.
Your blood pressure is immeasurable
Your vital signs are pleasurable
Your heart beats are in tune with WORDS and hints of common LORE
And your case is one of which the likes we have never seen before
You have Creative RUSE inside your shoes
And your blood flow's overflowing with what we call the MUSE."

He confirmed I had Neurosis
He confirmed it was Psychosis
And the vital Diagnosis
Brought a promising Prognosis
Then they took me to Psychology
They examined my Biology
And my unique Physiology
Meant a visit to Neurology
Which, confirmed I had The LORE
And the LORE was unlike any they had ever seen before
The most serious case they said of the deadly Metaphor
They said; "Poet, you're suffering from Metaphor"
And never has there been such a serious case before
Can you feel it in your teeth?
Can you feel it in your Jaw?

You have WORDS in your bones in your lungs and in your jaw
Your blood pressure is immeasurable
Your vital signs are pleasurable
You have MUSE in your shoes
You have POETRY in your jaw
You have adjectives and adverbs
Oozing out from your every pore
Your arteries are blocked with words that will and words that won't
Your vital signs are flowing With the MUSE and WORDS that don't
You have Creative RUSE inside your shoes
And your blood flow's overflowing with what we call the MUSE."

The doctor told me; "Poet you are very very ill
You must write down every word that comes into your head....then chill
There's nothing wrong with you she said
The problem lies inside your head
You must go home now and write now..... Like you never did before
Because, Poet, you're suffering from Metaphor"
The prognosis was impeccable and the Diagnosis good
And I went home straight away as the Doctor said I should
I said; "Doctor, May I interject, your diagnosis is correct
I can feel it in my joints, I can feel it in my jaw
I can feel it in my stomach like I've never felt before
Doctor I'm suffering from Metaphor......
