Moon-Lake

i

the moon
crying
moon-lake

ii

war
comes early
and silently...

iii

the baby
smiles
at the gun
aimed for
it's head

iv

the smile
lingers
as life
goes

silently
coldly

v

red moon
crying
moon-lake

of blood

vi

the killer
looks up at the moon
and says of it

'it's beautiful
tonight'

vii

war
comes early
and silently...

viii

the moon

moon-lake

Striking Twelve

As a child in his grandmother's house
He could never fall asleep
Until her great grandfather clock
Had struck midnight,
Its booms echoing in his ears.
Now he had to try to sleep with a new booming in his ears;
The sound of gunfire and granades striking noon
To his fear.
