Mangesh Sonawane Poems

Everyday, I make up my mind
That I would strike up a conversation
On some topic, any, it mattered not
As long as her eyes would be on mine.

When one is lost
In the tangles of life
Inextricably messed up
In problems and strife...

There is one woman
Who's been there for me
Since before I came into
This world to see.

A child in the blizzard,
Naked in the snow.
Alone, cold, in the dark
Lay prone, freezing.
...

Sometimes I feel as if I am all alone...
Maybe I need someone to share my life...
Share the burden that seems too great
For one man to carry all by himself...
...

I don't feel anything anymore...
There is no happiness, no hope.
No expectation, just a journey.
A never ending journey to an

I sat in the sand the other day
Watching the masses flock around
Rush to the surf, and bathe in the brine
As the wind blew all around me.

I still remember the day I died
Over my corpse no body cried.
Not a whisper, not a tear shed,
Nobody ever came when I was dead.
...

In death comes the peace
Of everlasting silence
I rest forever.

Leaving your body here,
But your mind elsewhere?

Mangesh Sonawane Biography

I'm a fun loving 17 year old guy with the brains of Einstein (at least, that's what I like to think) .I wrote my first poem at age 3. Since then, I've been refining my technique, experimenting with different forms, rhyme scheme, syllabic rhythms, imagery, etc. The power that can be conveyed by a few simple words put in the right order... it never ceases to amaze me... Apart from that... well... I'm me.)

For Someone Special

Everyday, I make up my mind
That I would strike up a conversation
On some topic, any, it mattered not
As long as her eyes would be on mine.

Yet as I walk past her and say hello
The smile she gives shatters my resolve
Leaving me incapable of anything
But sappy gazes and incoherence.

I want to speak out, tell her how I feel
The depth of my emotion, I wish to spill
But I know not what she thinks of me
It's not just her friend that I wish to be.

Does she somewhere deep within
Regard me with a liking more potent
Than the one possessed among friends
And strangers who are familiar?

Or is it just an everyday feel
Of people you sit with, talk and laugh?
Will she ever say yes to me,
If I asked her to be a part of my life?

I know not the depth of my feelings
Perhaps it is love, perhaps more,
Or perhaps it is just an everyday attraction,
The usual modest teenage crush.

But what I do know for certain
Is that somewhere within me
She fills a void previously unfilled,
The desire for companionship.

There is no one I'd rather have
Walking besides me on the road of life
Than the person whose smiling beauty
I would wait forever to see.

Maybe I'm not the right person for you,
Maybe I'm an alien from a poetic universe
But I promise you, I would change my world
Because if there's anyone worth it, it's you.

I will treasure your trust, I will carry your smile
I promise I will be the best I can ever be
And I promise you I will always love you
So I ask you again, will you share life with me?
