I Came, I Saw, I Conquered Poem by Mangesh Sonawane

I Came, I Saw, I Conquered

Rating: 4.0

Sometimes I feel as if I am all alone...
Maybe I need someone to share my life...
Share the burden that seems too great
For one man to carry all by himself...
A fellow human being, one who would smile
And say, 'Just a little while more',
Who would be the knight in shining armor,
And wield the sword of fate...

Yet some times, I feel the need to be
What I wish at other times I weren't-
Alone, walking hand in hand with none
Save myself, my own master, my own friend
Contemplating what I was made for.
Sometimes, it takes but a nudge to rise,
To look oneself in the eye and face
The world with the naked sword of truth.

Sometimes, I feel that I am no longer
What I used to be, that airy feeling of supremacy...
Sometimes, I wake up, but cannot face myself,
The burden of self esteem heavy across beaten, hunched brows...
But a burden that is mine, and mine alone, to bear,
How can I expect someone else to be there?
No. My kingdom shall be ruled by me, and I its emperor...
Veni Vidi Vici - I came, I saw, I conquered.
