040510p Dangers Beneath The Earth

giant slicer cut to solid black seam
and hauled to surface a mile away
routine process twenty four seven
everybody go beneath the earth
in search of this prehistoric remains
to fuel the gargantuan machines

devil's breathe came with vengeance
rip the shaft with thunder lifted the dust
condemn souls with no bias; wipe out
broken bones, collapse ceiling; what's left
others are missing down the dephts
prayers we reach; press those palms
from might bless; tomorrow back to work

***
offer prayers for the miners from west virginia
who suffered sadness yesterday afternoon
040510. methane gas exploded within the
shafts. bless their soul; may rest in peace.
