.5. Have You Ever Poem by David Threadgold

.5. Have You Ever

Rating: 5.0

Have you ever seen a morning
With a red sky turning blue
A heavy smell of freshness
From the meadows soaked with dew

Where birds sing out in chorus
A welcome for this dawn
And field mice dry their whiskers
Whilst they eat the sodden corn

Have you ever-smelt fresh coffee
From beans just ground by hand
Or bread straight from the oven
Top crusted nicely tanned

Where five bar gates swing open
To fields where cattle graze
While rabbits finish breakfast
And sun turns dew to haze

Have you ever felt green pleasure?
Filled lungs with air so pure
Away the aches and pains of life
Our countryside will cure
