(9/11) A Prayer And A Promise Poem by Jason Summers

(9/11) A Prayer And A Promise

Rating: 2.7

On a Tuesday morning in early September
A new day in history we will always remember
News updates flash every radio and television station
And the words of shock, 'oh my God, ' echoes throughout the nation.
In a terrorist attack two planes crash into the World Trade towers
One right after the other, record fatalities in less than one hour.
Soon we learn that the Pentagon was hit
And the President was next on the list.
After one week of mourning with hurt and disdain
People went back to work in the ashes and rubble that remained.
We were heartfelt for the loss but we had to carry on
Because America is not weak, we were built strong.
Even with anxiety and pain in our eyes
Any and all fear was completely denied.
Because we have come together to stand tall,
Proud to be united, in a country that will never fall.

You asked us for help and we gave you a hand
How stupid of you to attack our homeland.
You really don't know how much you've done wrong,
You are the cowards, we are the strong.
You are the purest of all evil, the greatest Demon
Taking away our innocent, even our smallest children.
We are upset about the destruction and sorrowed at the loss
But that does not compare to how much you have pissed us off.
You do not know the power we have in desperation,
You are not of God's hands, you are the Devil's creation.
You have gained nothing but a death wish to come
The world is not blind to see the corruption you have done.
We answer any ransom with a bounty on your head
It does not matter if we take you alive or dead.
Now your fate awaits you and only time will tell
If we don't see you soon we'll see you sent to hell.
Your attack was inaccurate, shameless we're told,
Now we will retaliate and you will pay tenfold.
We will rise up with the best of our best
And we won't stop until there is nothing left.
America's great glory will soar through the air
And you'll see how beautiful we are through our rockets red glare.
But like all devastating wars your evil reign will not last.
Because we're going to make damn sure we kick you're f.cking.ss.
