great work............from this work we can easily realise that there is a child in all of us and every once in a while it peeps out and makes us realise that we are still the same............Happy writing |

Here's my bone of contention with poetry - why do things always have to mean something else? ? Why can they not just mean what they say? ? Anyone who has ever had a child escape the watchful eye and paint rainbows on the walls will recognize this very thing in this poem. The mother's laughter is what perfects this poem! Linda |

Quite enjoyable. Was there a political theme in there as well (red states vs blue states) ? -chuck |

There is always a subtley within CJ' s works, whether intentional or not. I feel that the use of 'red' is a wonderful metaphor. We associate red with so many different emotions, but I find that its employment here, speaks of red as the colour of (life) blood initially. that it also produced the effect of getting Mommy mad (getting her to see red) is fantastic.
But overall the work speaks to us as the vibrancy of an innocent mind, open to all things, and we look on it as naughtiness.
To get a child to think about what they have done - to get them to percieve their actions from an adult perspective - is totally ridiculous; yet we expect that of children. |

Once again a fabulous example of children's poetry at its finest.
