A Dance With Flexibilty Poem by Joshua Bantum

A Dance With Flexibilty

Drunk with a Québécois
Near overdosed on MDMA with a Svensk
Even sober with a Cotillion from Ohio

I tell you it’s easy to fall in Love
If you have the luxury of time and
Copious amounts of energy to expend.

I’ve spent the majority
Of life learning to step to the white foam
And take each wave on with endurance,
Adjusting to its intensity,
But when at night the moon rises
Tucking the tide back in to the oceans womb
That stern chill in which the wind reminds you of
I have not prepared for that type of Death.

Falling in Love is the easiest action to indulge in,
Its not letting the fear of being board, Being left without chaos,
Get to ya.

Not letting it prevent you from future attempts
At the indifferent tides of passion

You must take in strides the breathless moments along with the ones
Abundant with life.

Falling for Love is easy
It’s a clever trick we don’t mind being fooled by

But its letting her walk away with ease
With the same grace that she entered with
Which is the difficult part.
