A Date With Myself.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

i just arrived
from a long vacation
in cebu city

had lots of fun there
ate in some fabulous
restaurants,
went shopping for a
camera and some socks
and underwear, and
another pair of new
shoes for myself,

you called and asked
me if i am with somebody
if i invited a niece or
a friend,

i answered, i met myself
and we are enjoying each
other's company,
we're into our own party
and we learned to dance
and sing by ourselves,

for the first time
in my life, and you
are not with me.
