A House, White Fence & Birds Poem by Jackie Ann

A House, White Fence & Birds

A House, White Fence, and Birds

A small boy said he wanted me
A puppy all his own.
His parents promised to keep me
Even after I was grown.

I see a house, white fence, and birds
And maybe, just maybe I can stay!
Like the parents told the boy
When we went out to play.

As I grew up they yelled at me,
But I didn't know their words.
So they drove and left me far away
From the house, white fence and birds.

They never took me to a class
Or made time for a walk.
They just did not understand
I don't know how to talk.

Wow! An intense and heart wrenching poem! You express the truth succinctly and very well. Keep writing poetry, you are indeed an artist expressing yourself on a poetical canvas.
