A Life Changing Encounter Poem by Orlando Belo

A Life Changing Encounter

In the very early hours of this morning
a flying saucer landed in the park.
An insomniac out walking his boxer dog
saw something was odd in the dark.

He thought the council had built it for the children
and it was a modern type of playground.
Until that is the spaceship's coloured lights came on
and it began emitting a humming sound.

The dog began cowering and whimpering,
sensing something untoward was here.
It tried to hide behind his master's legs,
but he too was trembling with fear.

An entrance to the craft began slowly opening
and lights beamed out onto the dog and man.
The power pulled them inside the spacecraft;
with no resistance, their abduction began.

The entrance closed with a base tone echo,
then its inner section began to rotate.
The outer perimeter spun the opposite way
and it took off at a light-speed rate.

What seemed as only five minutes later,
the flying saucer returned to the ground.
From out of the flying saucer's opening
came lights and a humming sound.

Two figures walked slowly from the opening,
silhouetted by the greens, blues, and reds.
The craft took off, but something was wrong!
They were wearing each other's heads.
