A Love Letter Poem by Abul Kayyum

A Love Letter

Rating: 4.5

I tell you to understand, not to make you understand - -
blunt weapons are used in drama stage, not in war field
and a battle can not be fought
by a commander slept on the back of a horse
or by a sword drowsed inside the sheath.
Barber’s razor can be used for shaving beard,
but not for cleaning
fat from heart.

I am sorry,
I tell you to understand, not to make you understand - -
I don’t make you understand that
fort-walls are not built with sponge-wood,
And the canons never pound balls of sweetmeat.

I don’t make you understand- -
love and war are not the same.

I am sorry- -

Lovely piece of poetry, well articulated and nicely penned from heart in poetic diction. A heartfelt apology written with conviction. Thanks for sharing Abul. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
