This is a love letter
Written from the deepest soul,
The purest of heart
A man can only hope to define.
Love is a sacred word I dare not say
Love is when hatreds has no meaning,
Violence makes no enemies,
And anger needs no arguments.
I get shivers when I think of you
A man like you brightens up even the darkest, somber clouds
The trees bow to you as you pass them by
Your eyes light up as you observe the goodness others fail to see
The world freezes and listens as you speak of your gentle mind
A man like you completes my missing details with only a simple ‘hello’.
Love is when you call to check if she’s okay
It doesn’t recognize faults nor imperfections
Love is when freckles, wrinkles & grey hair aren’t distracting
It makes you treat the complexities of life gently.
When I think of you I see a wide open galaxy
The wind follows and sings you lullabys
A man like you looks charming regardless what you wear
One message from you leaves me smiling ear to ear
A man like you makes both Superman and Batman look bad
You bring peace home and everywhere you go.
But a man like you doesn’t come very often
A man like you shows up only in my dreams
You're light years away from me
Torn up by dimensions and reasons that are far and few.
I think perhaps that taking this poem and 'Dear Stranger' and formating them as an actual letter might be the most effective way to make your point here. I like both poems, but I think they really need to be one. As a love letter, the poem need not announce its intention. Let the statements and images communicate that. Or you could just title the new poem something like 'Love Letter to a Man Like You' and go from there. I've enjoyed your work and wish you the best of luck.
